Earlobe correction at Doctor Irene

Thinking about an earlobe correction? Your ears play a big role in the proportions of your face. Unfortunately, earlobes are susceptible to changes due to injury and trauma. Damaged earlobes are quite common. Although they are an inconvenience and make you feel insecure, earlobe correction is a safe way to repair your earlobe or earlobes. Earlobe repair surgery helps you improve the appearance of your face and boost your self-confidence.

Surgical earlobe correction

An earlobe correction is a simple procedure performed by a cosmetic doctor. The procedure takes about an hour if you have both ears corrected. For torn earlobes, a split earlobe or earlobes that are significantly stretched, Doctor Irene rearranges the soft tissue and removes the damaged tissue. In the case of a partial tear, the doctor removes the damaged skin and sutures the lobe back together using small sutures. You can expect natural-looking earlobes once the procedure is complete, which means you can count on:

– Correction of stretched, split or damaged earlobes;
– Correction of oddly shaped earlobes;
– Wearing earrings again without fear of losing the earrings;

Preparation for earlobe surgery

Before you have an earlobe correction done, come to Doctor Irene for a consultation. Make your expectations known and hear what we can do for you. By mutual agreement, it is possible to do the procedure on the same day as the consultation. The procedure is done under local anesthesia. After the procedure, you will receive instructions for optimal recovery. In preparation for earlobe surgery, you are advised not to take aspirin for at least a week. Stop smoking at least 48 hours in advance and do not consume alcohol, as it slows down the healing process. Because the procedure is done under local anesthesia, you may drive yourself home afterwards. You are eligible for the surgery at:

– Stretched, torn or damaged earlobes;
– Naturally oversized or undersized earlobes;
– Oddly shaped earlobes that make you try to hide your ears;
– Fear of earrings falling out of your ears because the holes are stretched;

Recovery after earlobe surgery

An earlobe correction is a painless procedure with a short recovery period. Depending on the technique used, you may be prescribed an ointment or special tape to apply to the earlobes. In case of discomfort and/or post-op pain, you may use over-the-counter painkillers to control the pain. You can expect swelling and bruising in the treatment area. These disappear within a few weeks. For the first week after surgery, do not wear turtlenecks or hold your phone to your earlobes. Protect the skin from the sun and do not rub your ears. In most cases, it is not necessary to take time off. You will schedule the surgery by mutual agreement toward the end of the week so that you have time during the weekend to rest and recover. Once Doctor Irene has determined that your earlobes have healed properly you may have new holes made.

Safety, risks and complications

An earlobe correction is a low-risk surgical procedure. With Doctor Irene, you discuss your health and medical history. This is the only way to ensure that you can safely proceed with this operation. During the consultation, Doctor Irene will explain the risks and possible complications of the surgery. Possible side effects include poor wound healing, infection, scarring and the need for additional corrective surgery.

Results

The results are immediately visible, although the treated earlobes are swollen and discolored after the procedure. It takes a few weeks, before the swelling has completely disappeared and you may have new earring holes shot again. Your corrected earlobes retain the effect, but it’s not like body aging has been halted. Unfortunately, it is not possible to stop aging permanently. Over time, the skin may sag again. How quickly this happens is personal and depends on your lifestyle and how you care for your skin. Doctor Irene gives you advice on maintaining the effects achieved for as long as possible.

Cost and reimbursement

An earlobe correction is a minor surgical procedure done with local anesthetics. The procedure does not take long and you may leave the clinic shortly after surgery. How much you pay for the procedure depends on the technique used. Earlobe surgery is personal, with sometimes it is enough to correct one earlobe, while in other cases it is necessary to treat both sides. Doctor Irene views and examines both of your earlobes during the consultation. You will receive a treatment recommendation with a price quote. If you have cosmetic surgery applied, the cost is usually not covered by basic insurance. Do you have supplemental health insurance? Get advice from your health insurance company and/or check the policy terms and conditions.

No waiting list

Doctor Irene has no waiting list for earlobe correction. Depending on your situation, it is possible to do the procedure immediately after the consultation, but we can also schedule it at a later time by mutual agreement. Flexible treatment options are practical. You do not have to make an immediate decision to have the procedure applied. Take your time to let the consultation and proposed treatment plan sink in on you. Do you have additional questions or is something not quite clear? Feel free to contact us and ask your question. It is important to know what to expect from the surgery.
